    Your body processing, normally in an absent carb environment creates ketones.

    The body needs fat to produce ketones. They are made when fatty acids are processed by the liver to use them for fuel. When you burn fat in any form, be it body fat or dietary fat, ketones will be produced.


      But don't our bodies convert FAT into ketones ( energy) I am wondering if our bodies sometimes use the dietary fat we ingest to create ketones? Thus and if so would that register on a blood ketone monitor?


        Yes, Be advised, this is why it's entirely possible to be in ketosis and not lose weight. If you consume enough calories for maintenance, even if 100% of your calories were from fat, you will not lose weight. Yet, you will be in ketosis.
